Graphmatech unlocking a 20-Year-Old Graphene Mystery
Graphene, discovered in 2004, is a single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a densely packed benzene-ring structure. With properties stronger than steel and more conductive than copper, graphene initially generated high hopes for revolutionary applications. However, when scaled by stacking layers, these unique attributes were often lost. Graphmatech solved this by integrating graphene with materials like plastics and metals, creating ultra-strong composites, Graphmatech’s CEO Olivia Nestius said.
Now, Graphmatech is leveraging these advanced materials to drive the green transition. With a portfolio of patents, each innovation supports industries in becoming more efficient and sustainable. For example, their graphene-based solutions enhance hydrogen storage, addressing critical leakage issues. Nestius explains that traditional hydrogen storage is costly and 11 times more harmful to the environment than CO₂ leakage, but Graphmatech’s technology offers a more resilient, eco-friendly alternative.
