Today marks the launch of the Nordic Climate Advisory Group, a coalition founded by the Exponential Roadmap Initiative together with leading climate consultancies in the Nordics: 2050, Atmoz, AFRY, Climate Hero, Go Climate, Normative, South Pole, ZeroMission, and U&WE.

The group’s shared mission is to accelerate the race to net zero by harmonising carbon accounting practices, highlighting discrepancies in the interpretation of the GHG Protocol, sharing experiences, and supporting companies to act with speed and ambition.

Launch of the Nordic Climate Advisory Group

We, a coalition of leading climate consultancies in the Nordics together with the Exponential Roadmap Initiative, are proud to announce the launch of the Nordic Climate Advisory Group.

Our shared mission is to accelerate the race to net zero by harmonising carbon accounting practices, highlighting discrepancies in the interpretation of the GHG Protocol, sharing experiences, and supporting companies to act with speed and ambition. Central to our work is pushing for greater transparency to enable fair competition and strengthen corporate decarbonisation strategies. By working together, we aim to close existing gaps and uncertainties in current standards and enable businesses to scale impactful climate solutions across the region and beyond.

Why now?

The urgency of the climate crisis demands rapid and coordinated action. Every company’s net zero journey starts with understanding, calculating, and disclosing emissions. But real climate leadership goes further: reducing emissions across value chains, transforming portfolios, and supporting societal shifts away from fossil dependence.

Yet companies face significant barriers: fragmented guidelines, inconsistent interpretations of existing standards, and limited opportunities to scale effective practices. Although the GHG Protocol was never designed for direct comparisons, such comparisons are already being made – underlining the need for greater harmonisation, transparency, and clarity in how carbon accounting is applied in practice.

This group will also work to highlight where Sweden’s governing agencies may need additional clarifications or policy updates to better guide companies on their decarbonisation journey.

Our approach 

The Nordic Climate Advisory Group will serve as a collaborative platform to:

• Highlight and strengthen the interpretation and application of the GHG Protocol
• Push for greater transparency to enable fair competition and stronger corporate decarbonisation strategies
• Promote a harmonised way of working across the Nordic region and beyond

The challenge before us cannot be solved by any single company or standard-setter alone. It requires collective commitment and action. By joining forces, we believe the Nordic Climate Advisory Group can drive meaningful change – supporting companies in the Nordics and beyond in their transition to a resilient, zero-carbon economy.
