The Exponential Roadmap Initiative launched the Exponential Business Playbook, during the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos last week. Formerly known as the 1.5°C Business Playbook, the updated name reflects our mission and how we envision the global transition unfolding.
The Exponential Business Playbook is for CEOs, board members, business leaders and employees who want to align with the 1.5°C ambition through concrete action. Focusing on simplicity and speed, the playbook provides a strategic framework for setting climate targets, strategies, transition plans, taking action and disclosing results.
Originally launched in 2020, the first version of the playbook was developed in collaboration with experts from numerous contributing and supporting organizations. Since then, it has been regularly updated to reflect the latest scientific research, evolving standards, and feedback from users.
The latest version, 4.1, arrives at a critical moment. As we face the urgent need for the fastest transition in history, the playbook is designed to facilitate meaningful action for businesses while also emphasising the immense opportunities of joining the race to the top in the global transition.
Key updates in version 4.1:
- Net Zero Value Chains: Expanded recommendations for driving decarbonization across entire value chains.
- Carbon Removals: New guidance on integrating carbon removal solutions into climate strategies.
- Enhanced KPIs: Updated key performance indicators to track progress effectively.
- Climate Solutions Section: Refreshed content to highlight actionable climate solutions.
- Additional Resources: A curated list of online resources to support businesses in implementing the playbook’s action points.
With this new version, the Exponential Roadmap Initiative reinforces its commitment to empowering businesses to accelerate their climate actions while contributing to the global mission of halving emissions by 2030 and staying on track for the 1.5°C goal.
