Carbon Removals Scaling: Launch of Carbon Removals guideline for companies

Carbon Dioxide Removals are an essential complement to deep cuts in emissions, and reaching net zero on time will not be possible without them. Removals options are increasing, but navigating the market can be complex, and the role of removals is sometimes misunderstood as a substitute for reductions, rather than as a necessary addition.

Companies must start investing now to enable removals to scale at the pace required. The new Carbon Removals Action Guide, developed by the Exponential Roadmap Initiative with Rethinking Removals and Oxford Net Zero, provides science-based and standards-aligned recommendations for how companies can integrate CDR into their business strategies. The concept of twin trajectories is central.

This session will present the guide, highlight company insights, and explore how to build effective removal strategies, focusing on urgency, diverse portfolios, durability, co benefits, and robust reporting.
